Overall our experience building our home was a very good one.  We would say that the biggest factor in deciding the purchase was the lot location in Farmington and Nelson Construction's reputation.  However, upon the initial meetings with Chris we were pleased that energy efficiency was a high priority and that these homes would be considered "Green".  We were also happy that Chris was willing to work with us and Waldo with the installation of the solar panels.  To date, we are pleased with the energy decisions that were made on the house.  Our gas bill this past winter (which was very cold) was lower than anticipated and our solar panels ( energized January 2009) have continued to produce more electricity than we are using.  We have also noted that the large windows and positioning of them add an abundance of light to the home, thus decreasing the amount of electricity needed during the day.  We were confident with Nelson construction pushing the limits on energy efficiency based on their reputation of standing behind their construction and the research that was conducted on these new technologies.
