Chris Nelson brings decades of experience and a unique owner’s perspective to Nelson Construction as President and Owner. Known for his expertise in project development, Chris excels at evaluating land potential, shaping design concepts, coordinating utilities, and guiding approvals to bring large-scale residential communities to life. His background as an owner, manager, and seller of residential rental communities gives him valuable insight into the needs of developers and investors alike.
What Chris enjoys most about construction is the people he gets to work with – from Nelson employees to trade partners and suppliers. Their dedication makes every project a success. He takes pride in building communities where residents can live, thrive, and enjoy a high quality of life, and he finds it especially rewarding to see his team perform at the highest standards of quality and client satisfaction.
Outside of work, Chris and his wife, Mary-Ellen, enjoy traveling, golfing, spending time with family, and embracing the empty-nest lifestyle. Among his proudest accomplishments is the restoration of the historic Simsbury Grist Mill, home to Nelson Construction’s office, which reflects both a respect for history and a vision for the future.
Chris holds a BS in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Connecticut, along with professional designations as a Graduate Master Builder and Certified Green Professional from the National Association of Home Builders.
